Why Obamacare matters: playing "Chicago", a slaughterhouse game, in The New Machiavelli by H.G. Wells, with Chicago-based politics.
A recent poll by Kaiser Family Foundation, a foundation backed by the SEIU, has suggested that many want the opponents of Obamacare to move on ("drop oppositon and move onto other issues" versus continue opposition). Perhaps many of the 92% of voters that are on a current health insurance policy think that Obamacare will not affect them. They may be very wrong and it has nothing to do with some not paying their fair share or the possibility that employers may drop their current employee health plans due to the change in the healthcare marketplace. Just one small example of the problems that can be caused by a mandate for healthcare coverage is the recent controversy surrounding the screening for prostate specific antigen (PSA) and the subsequent treatment that many men received unnecessarily. If healthcare insurers, ones that often have cozy relationships with healthcare providers, the FDA, and apparently the Whitehouse, were to demand prostate removal after a positive PSA test as a condition of being insured by them, Obamacare, Obamacation, Obamanation may be playing "Chicago", a slaughterhouse game in The New Machiavelli by H.G. Wells, with Chicago-based politics.
The fight is clearly not over, regardless of Republican political progress. Democracy matters. The majority have been against Obamacare since the beginning!
