Heroinization: No World Ready Or Not

Heroinization:  No World Ready Or Not

In One World Ready or Not: The Manic Logic of Global Capitalism (1), William Greider describes the problems of global capitalism.  He does state that it benefits consumers, however, because of the number of new products available to consumers, despite its creation of warehouses of unsold goods.

China combated opium use after the opium wars.  It's population was hooked on English opium just to fill their tea ships.  Now China fills their ships with cheap knock-offs of products, including US Apple products and Lenovo's with cheap USB ports and software changes that affect their longevity.   It is rumored that Russia has even suffered the same fate with military equipment designed by their modern companies and used in their war in the Ukraine.

It is hard to believe, considering the massive trade deficits with China, and the debts to them, that they are not addicting us to their cheap products.  At one time, in fact, the number one export to China from the United States was recyclable paper!  Now they claim that exported product is inferior and are demanding higher quality paper for less price.

In Singapore, drug traffickers are hung.  On Earth, resource depletion and degradation will make this redundant for too many of us.

Are anti-ship missiles used against shopping malls the answer now?  Are they blaming shoppers for problems rather than inept leaderships and parties? Perhaps they had a warehouse full of them, ready for expiration...

 William Greider

"Reflecting the viewpoints of politicians, workers, CEOs, and middle managers, the author of Who Will Tell the People assesses the global economy, points to problems of unregulated capital and labor, and proposes solutions the U.S. must take to lead the world economy onwards"
