Soylent Green Is People!

Have we gone from 1984 to Brave New World to Soylent Green in under 8 months?

The Obama Whitehouse has hinted that the public option for health insurance may be expendable. But former Vermont Governor Howard Dean says ensuring the 47 million uninsured is crucial to healthcare reform. Of course it is or we will be living in a Soylent Green-like world soon. If you have seen the movie, you'll remember the Euthanisia of the old (and uninsured) as well as Charleton Heston pulling a baby from his dead mother's arms on a doorstep. There was no place to go.

"Soylent Green is People"
Soylent Green

Palin followers are very wrong. It's like David Letterman said 8.17.2009, "the hippies that were at Woodstock are now yelling at town hall meetings!"

Perhaps the Dems can pull this thing off right yet. We'll see....

Who Will Bail Out P.I.G. (Pharmaceutical Insurance Group)?

Who Will Bail Out the P.I.G. (Pharmaceutical Insurance Group)?

Less than 1 year after the AIG bailout, the pharmaceutical companies want to "reform" healthcare so that everyone can get prescriptions for their products. Furthermore, while the use of antidepressants has recently increased 2 fold since 1996, the use of psychiatrists has declined. People use antidepressents now for back pain, fatigue, nerve pain, and sleep too. Is Brave New World's "Soma" here to stay now. Are we all going to be coerced into taking it? Is Big Pharma going to use the U.S. Govenment in a pyramid insurance scam now? Will there be a change in how the drug companies are to be held accountable for the over-use of psychotropic drugs?

Clearly, Michael Jackson could afford prescriptions and medical professionals, but his addictions to the prescriptions killed him. I, for one, have no intention of following Michael Jackson on the "road to hell" with Xanax.

Healthcare reform is needed. But we need to be careful that our government does not plan on controling global warming with prescription drug abuse.

There Is No Honor

"Obama likes to point out — Bush's Medicare prescription-drug program. "You passed a prescription drug plan and didn't pay for it, handed the bill to me," Obama said in remarks directed at Republicans."

That's Not Funny

Al Franken relishes policy role in new Senate job
By HENRY C. JACKSON, Associated Press Writer Henry C. Jackson, Associated Press Writer

>>>>>"During the Sotomayor hearings, Franken said he was able
>>>>>to get Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, the committee's
>>>>>top Republican, to acknowledge there are
>>>>>conservative "activist judges" as well as
>>>>>liberal ones."

That is definitely not the comedian showing up in him. Nor did it show up when he questioned T.Boone Pickens about the obnoxious Swift Boat ads that the Democrats keep insisting derailed Senator John Kerry's presidential run. That of course is NOT TRUE. Senator Kerry did not attend Security Council meetings as a member of the panel after the 9/11/01 attack. WE STILL ASK WHY?!

The comedian did show up when he did not do his homework on the Perry Mason question he presented to the Honorable Judge Sotomayor.
